El Gouna | Light in Form
Under the sun, between water, warmth, and color
these stones were gathered.
There was no plan.
I collected them instinctively, drawn to their vibrancy, their softness, their quiet presence.
We sat together, Sophia and I, placing them on a towel, playing, arranging, without intention.
Forms began to appear
unclear at first, somewhere between figure and fragment.
I shared them, without knowing what they were.
Someone said: they look like angels.
And from that moment, I couldn’t unsee it.
What began as play became recognition.
While creating, I started to feel it
how naturally the stones carried that presence,
how their light and color held something open, something unforced.
Something that doesn’t need to be explained.
Maybe it was also the way Sophia was drawn to them
so instinctively, so gently
that made this presence impossible to ignore.
There is a softness in them
a quiet sense of calm, of protection.
Perhaps it is also where they come from
El Gouna, Egypt
a place where stone seems to carry more than form,
where light, time, and presence settle into material.
The act of arranging gave them form
but it did not create what they carry.
It was already there.
